An Inspector Calls
Drama by J.B. Priestly
Directed by Lisa Mingus Tullis
Feb. 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 2008
Following an engagement dinner, the Birling family’s happy celebration is inter- rupted by a banging at the door. Enter an inspector with the news of the death of a young woman. The persistent inspector begins to slowly peel back the Birling family’s happy fascade to reveal a house full of deception and lies. As the mysteri- ous investigator spins the lurid details of a life now lost, each of the party guests finds themselves tangled in his web. Slowly, the idea of “guilty or innocent” takes new meaning. The stunning conclusion has reverberations far more powerful than the best whodunit unmasking.
“Charged with romanticism and emotional tension, a well-made play of another era, especially one lace with contemporary political commentary”
“Stunning. ..engrossing drama. ..dark, gleaming and elegant.”
“Spine-tinglingly good. ..It grabs you by the throat and won’t let you go!”
